Teens arrested for Kortedala attack

Ben Kendall 2012-03-28

Seven teenage boys have been apprehended in connection to the brutal attack of a 61-year-old man in Kortedala on March 18. The youngest of the boys is only 14 years old.

On Wednesday the police visited a number of addresses in Gothenburg. Seven youths aged 14-16 years were picked up and taken to the police station on Skånegatan.

So far, four of the boys have been arrested suspected of attempted murder, according P4 Göteborg.

The 61-year-old was subjected to a severe beating on the Kortedala Torg (plaza) on March 18. It took place in the middle of the day and the area was full of people at the time. It is believed the man thought the boys had teased his dog and that he was attacked after approaching the group, writes Göteborgs-Posten.

According to the police, the man has permanent brain injuries and it is unknown if he will survive.
