A man was shot in the shoulder by a police officer in connection to an intervention at Örgrytemotet early on Saturday morning. The man was taken to Sahlgrenska Hospital but will be discharged during the day.
The shooting happened around 4:04 am on Saturday when the police had stopped a car for an inspection. Three men were in the car and one of them was shot by a police officer. According to police press officer Thomas Fuxborg, the officer felt threatened by one of the men.
The three men had been stopped as they are of interest to an investigation into serious crimes. After the police intervention this morning they are suspected of minor narcotic offences and threats against an officer.
The police have also commenced an investigation into professional misconduct, and the police officer’s gun has been seized.
“It’s standard procedure,” says Thomas Fuxborg to Göteborgs-Posten.
