International network - new artistic director for Göteborg Ballet

Adolphe Binder

Adolphe Binder is the new Artistic Director of the Göteborg Ballet at the Göteborg Opera. She will take over from Johannes Öhman who resigns at the end of the summer.

Adolphe Binder is the head of Binder + Partners in Berlin, which is a production company that works internationally on the contemporary dance arena. She was born in Romania in 1969 and has lived in Germany since 1979. Previous positions include Artistic and Managing Director for Berlin Ballet at Komische Oper and the Head of Dramaturgy for the dance company of Deutsche Oper in Berlin. She has also worked as a curator and programmer for international dance festivals and the world exhibition Expo 2000 in Hanover.

For Gothenburg and Sweden no less than for international audiences, says Adolphe Binder in a statement.

- We are very happy to work with Adolphe Binder. She has a broad expertise and a large international network within contemporary dance, which suits the profile of our dance company perfectly. The recruitment process has shown that The Göteborg Ballet has a strong international position today, says the CEO of the Göteborg Opera, Peter Hansson.

Adolphe Binder will take up the position on August 1, 2011. The contract runs for four years. The Göteborg Ballet 2011/2012 season has been planned by resigning Artisitic Director, Johannes Öhman.
