"Swedish Eurovision" to Gothenburg

Linda Genborg 2012-02-10

Melodifestivalen, Sweden's version of the Eurovision song contest, is coming to Gothenburg. Heat 2 of the competition will be held in the Scandinavum Arena on Saturday.

For the unfamilar, Melodifestivalen in Sweden is huge. It is broadcasted live on television, radio and on the internet. And the final happens to be Sweden's most viewed television programme, watched by an estimated four million Swedes.

In total there are four heats, a "Second-chance" round and a final, which is held in Stockholm on March 10. The competition winner will represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest in Azerbaijan.

What's the big deal? GD's Sofia Strandberg gives the low-down on Melodifestivalen:

Melodi... what?!
