Orchid: Paphiopedilum


February 17-19. A few tips to spice up your weekend.

Exhibition: Ernest Cole
An exhibition by black South African photographer Ernest Cole (1940-1990). His photographs tell the story of what it was like and what it meant to be black under apartheid. Among them are some extremely rare exhibition prints made by Cole himself, which are now to be seen publicly for the first time.

When: Friday - Sunday 11.00-17.00 (until March 18)
Where: Hasselblad Centre, Götaplatsen
Price: Adults 40 kronor, free admission for visitors under 25

Edvard Munch: Portraits
Seven portraits by Norway's best-known artist Edvard Munch. The exhibition includes his classic Self-Portrait (1895), the 1896 portrait of his friend August Strindberg and the Madonnalike depiction of the violinist Eva Mudocci in The Brooch (1903).

When: Friday-Sunday 11:00-17:00 (runs until April 1) 
Where: Göteborgs Konstmuseum, Götaplatsen
Price: 40 kronor (free entry for people under 25)

Try Capoeira, Zumba or synthetic ice

Try capoeira, dance Zumba, go on a quiz walk or ice-skate indoors on synthetic ice. You can even get tips from players in local ice-hockey team Frölunda Indians. It's possible to borrow ice-skates at the museum.

Orchids aplenty
The Greenhouses in Gothenburg's Botanical Gardens are home to Sweden's largest collection of orchids with over 1500 species.

When: Saturday and Sunday (until March 11), 10:00-16:00, staff will be there between 11:00-15:00 on Sunday
Where: Botaniska Trädgården, Växthusen (Greenhouses)
Price: 20 kr admission fee to the Greenhouses
