Earlier this year the restaurant Thornströms Kök was awarded a long-awaited Michelin star. Now it has also been named the Restaurant of the Year at the annual Swedish Restaurant Gala. Owners Håkan and Anne Thörnström were also awarded restaurateur of the year.

The motivation was that the team at Thörnströms Kök has successfully created a profitable business where there is a good work environment for staff and they deliver a "sensational experience for their guests".

- We have worked a long time for this, so we are thrilled! We put a lot of personal involvement in what we do and our goal is to always maintain the highest quality at the restaurant. We get a kick from satisfied customers and that the staff at Thörnströms Kök have so much fun together, every day, says Håkan Thörnström in a statement.

Thornströms Kök was the only successful Gothenburg-based restaurant at Monday night's gala.
