Endrick Schubert (Social Democrats) is the chairman of Göteborgs Spårvägar - the latest company to be drawn into the Gothenburg bribery scandal. He is worried that Gothenburg's reputation is being dragged in the dirt.
- It's terrible. I hope to God that there are no more scandals. It is terrible that people with good jobs and wages take advantage of their position and act in this way, he tells GP.
- All these events that have occurred in Gothenburg during a year and a half are not only the concern of the individual companies but of the whole city. Municipality employees feel uncomfortable and feel like villains because of what others have done.
On Monday Endrick Schubert, the vice chairman Lennart Duell (the Liberals) and the CEO of Göteborgs Spårvägar, Lars-Börje Björfäll, met to talk about the bribery scandals that have rocked the company. The company board will investigate if there is more fiddling within the company, and also look into shortcomings in the internal control system.
The most recent suspicions concern a former executive who is suspected of having billed the costs of her newly built villa to the company. There is also an ongoing investigation into cash-in-hand jobs.
- As I see it, there are huge shortcomings in the control system. We have to take measures against these, says Lennart Duell to GP.
