Chalmers is amongst Europe's top universities in Physics and Chemistry, according to a new ranking from the German organization Centrum für Hochschulentwicklung, CHE.
The ranking, which is performed in cooperation with the Die Zeit magazine, is designed to help prospective Master's and PhD students choose a European campus for their studies. It evaluates a number of disciplines instead of the university as a whole, which is often the case in other rankings.
According to CHE, in Physics and Chemistry Chalmers has an exceptionally strong research and international program. An in-depth analysis awarded its Physics department seven stars out of eleven and Chemistry department six stars. The best result amongst all universities was seven stars.
The strengths of Chalmers included a high proportion of foreign PhD and Master's students, good gender balance among both teachers and students compared to the situation at other universities, and excellent library resources. Physics also had a high proportion of foreign teachers and a high participation in editorial committees for international journals.
