Henrik Zetterberg, a professor at the Sahlgrenska Academy in Gothenburg, has recieved the prestigious Dr Eric K Fernström's award for young scientists for his research on Alzheimer's disease. The 38-year-old professor in neurochemistry was awarded 100,000 kronor.
- For me personally, the award is a great honour. It is also exciting for our research group with the attention that the award offers, says Henrik Zetterberg in a statement.
Zetterberg leads a research group studying Alzheimer's disease at the Sahlgrenska Academy. Since 2010 the group has published its findings in more than 90 scientific articles and is considered one of the world leaders.
- Research involves enormous teamwork. What we all hope for now is that some of the clinical trials of new Alzheimer's medications will finally give results, says Henrik Zetterberg.
