The University of Gothenburg is among Europe's top institutions in neuroscience. It was ranked 18, according to a new list from Times Higher Education.
Using data from the Essential Science Indicators database of Thomson Reuters, Times Higher Education compared Europe's top 469 institutions in the field of neuroscience. Universities were ranked based on the number of published articles and the number of citations per article.
The University of Gothenburg had an average of 20.52 citations per article, around 13 less than the top rated University of Cambridge.
It is great for neuroscience in Gothenburg that we are acknowledged in this way. Hopefully this can contribute to neuroscience becoming a strong research area at the University of Gothenburg, just like research on cardiovascular, obesity, biomaterial and vaccines are now, said Kaj Blennow, professor in neuroscience at the Sahlgrenska Academy in a press release.
