Gothenburg. Volvo Cars need to hire 1200 people in the next 12 months. A majority of the positions are in research and development. About 900 new jobs in product development will be based in Gothenburg.
- We need to expand our operations to enable development of the highly competitive and fuel efficient products and technologies which are part of our growth plan, says Stefan Jacoby, President and CEO of Volvo Car Corporation, in a press release.
According to the head of communications, Olle Axelson, the recruitment is among the largest in the history of Volvo.
Most jobs are in product development and will therefore be based in Volvo Cars' R&D centre in Gothenburg.
Volvo's strong sales figures have increased the production pace at the factory in Torslanda and in recent months, the number of car builders have increased by around 250 people.
