The thirsty fireman took a sip of water between two exercises. But the water bottle did not contain water; it was filled with 25 percent strong ammonia. The accident took place in November last year, and the man was rushed to hospital with burn injuries to his throat and stomach.
The Arbetsmiljödomstolen is now directing strong criticism against the Emergency Services in Gothenburg for a lack of routines for how hazardous chemicals should be handled.
An unmarked container of ammonia was also found in the premises.
