More than 80 per cent of Gothenburg's hotels are now eco-certified. The aim is for Gothenburg to be the greenest hotel city in Europe.
“It strengthens our global competitiveness if we are a sustainable destination,” says Stefan Johansson, chairman of the organisation Göteborgshotellen, in a statement.
Göteborgshotellen has 31 member hotels of which 84 per cent are eco-certified. Among the city's larger hotels the figure is even higher.
“Of all the cities we compared, Gothenburg is the best. The goal is to have 100 per cent [eco-certified],” says Katarina Thorstensson, project leader of Sustainable Gothenburg, in a statement.
Sustainable Gothenburg started two years agos with the aim of making Gothenburg the most sustainable destination in the world in terms of transportation, hotels and venues for conferences and entertainment.Related articles2012-04-10 16:20
