A gynaecologist in Gothenburg is charged with two counts of sexual assault. The victims are former patients of the man and both assaults took place during examinations.
The man works within the public healthcare system in Gothenburg’s municipality. The two women reported the man to the police independently.
The assaults are said to have taken place at the medical practice where the man was working at the time.
On January 21, 2010, one of the women says the gynaecologist, without motivation, moved his finger in and out of her vagina in “a sexualised way”.
On December 9, 2010, the man is said to have physically demonstrated a method to reach sexual stimulation on the other woman.
The man’s lawyer, Urban Gilborne, says that his client firmly denies the accusations.
“These have concerned normal duties, where the plaintiffs have misunderstood the situation in some way,” says Urban Gilborne to Göteborgs-Posten.
The gynaecologist does not have a criminal record. He still works in the same field but at another workplace. A date for the trial has not been set yet.
