The 28-year-old man suspected of stabbing a 10-year-old girl in the neck outside her school on February 6 has admitted his involvement in the attack.
The man was arrested one week ago in another European country. According to a person that is close to the 28-year-old, it was the man himself who contacted the local police and told them his story.
The man has no relationship to the girl and her family and he is not believed to have acted on behalf of somebody else. If the man carried the assault under the influence of drugs or as a result of a mental illness is still unclear.
District prosecutor Per Håkan Larsson believes the 28-year-old will be extradited and arrive in Gothenburg in the next week.
The 10-year-old girl has left the hospital and is getting better.
"She is fine, she is better. The wound got a bit infected only, so we have been at the medical centre to get a new bandage and antibiotics," said a relative to Göteborgs-Posten.
The girl is still at home and will change schools.
"We're just trying to get back on our feet again. I'm still shocked, I saw her with the knife in her neck. I can't sleep at night," said the relative.
