A man survived two months inside his car after it was buried in snow on a forest road outside Umeå, northern Sweden.
The man, who is in his 40-50s, was found on Friday by a snow scooter driver who discovered the car on an unfrequented forest road.
"It was a member of the public who was out snow scooter driving and discovered a car buried in the snow at the end of a forest road. He got curious and looked through the window. Then he discovered something moving inside the car," says Ebbe Nyberg to the news agency TT.
According to the newspaper Västerbottens-Kuriren the man probably survived by eating snow.
"It's completely incredible that he is alive, partly due to that he hasn't had any food, but also considering that it was very cold for a period after Christmas," said a member of the rescue crew to Västerbottens-Kuriren.
The area has experienced temperatures down to minus 30 degrees Celsius.
The man wore warm clothes and was lying in a sleeping bag. He is not believed to have left the car at all.
He was able to say a few words to his rescuers, but was very weak and had to be carried out of the car. He said he hadn't eaten anything since December 19. He is now receiving intensive treatment at Norrland's University Hospital in Umeå.
