One person has died in a fire in a student apartment on Doktor Wigarts Gata in Guldheden. Around 60 people will be unable to stay in the building tonight.
The emergency services received the alarm at around 13:41 on Saturday. The fire started in an apartment on the fourth level of the building. The fire has also spread to the building's attic.
"One person has been found dead in the burnt-out apartment," says police spokesperson Thomas Fuxborg to Göteborgs-Posten.
It is not yet known if the dead person is male or female.
The fire in the apartment has been extinguished, but 35 firemen from six different stations are still working on the attic. It is expected to take several hours before the fire is completely extinguished.
At around 15:00 on Saturday afternoon, all residents in the building had been evacuated, except for residents in a home for mentally disabled people on the bottom floor.
