A charity concert for Japan will be held in Hagakyrkan on Monday, April 25. The event is organised by the student group "Göteborg for Japan", which is an initiative by Japanese exchange students and Swedish students at the University of Gothenburg. The aim is to support the victims of the recent disaster in Japan.
- We decided to take action to support the victims of the earthquake in Japan. Thanks to the people in Gothenburg, we have collected more than 135,000 kronor through our donation campaigns. We have been met by extraordinary generosity and cooperation, says Yuya Ogura, one of the students behind the initiative, to Göteborg Daily.
Popular singers Maia Hirasawa and Timo Räisänen are among the artists that will perform at the concert in Hagakyrkan.
- Six Swedish musicians will perform and show their sympathies with Japan. We would like people to enjoy the event, not only donate to Japan. The concert will be a way for us to thank everyone, says Yuya Ogura.
Tickets cost 100 kronor and can be purchased in advance at Pustervik and Hagakyrkan. Tickets at the door cost 150 kronor. All money will be sent to the Japanese Red Cross Society.
"Göteborg for Japan" has official support from the University of Gothenburg and the Swedish Red Cross.
