Over four million kronor. 62 students, 27 researchers, three alumni and two Thai youths have been granted scholarships from the foundation Chalmers Vänner. The foundation is made up of donations from previous students and other friends of Chalmers.
The grants total 4,024,000 kronor, and the number of scholarship holders is almost twice as many compared to 2010. The scholarships will be handed out during two ceremonies in Chalmersska Huset in May.
The prestigious Rune Andersson scholarship of 500,000 kronor is named after the industrialist, former Chalmers student and business leader of 2010, Rune Andersson. This year it was awarded to the alumni Ann-Marie Longworth, Karl Bergman and Alejandro Concha Romero.
The idea behind the Rune Andersson scholarship is to give Chalmers graduates a chance to enhance their degree with a postgraduate education in economics and law.
The Sievert Larsson Scholarship is awarded to young Thai citizens from poor families. This year the award was handed out to Charoenporn Kaewmanorom and Tawan Thammasunthorn. A scholarship of 510,000 kronor each will give them the opportunity to studya master's program at Chalmers.
