A sunny day in Gothenburg

- - 2010-05-13

Where should you head when the sun is shining? We put the question to Göteborg Daily's panel. Here's what they came up with.

Hugh
Let's face it, Gothenburg isn't famous for sunny weather, but every now and then it really lays it on. When it does, you gotta get out there and use it. Of course I could pretend that I rush out on the bike or to the park with a frisbee or whatever, but the truth is that my favourite sunny day afternoon is spent sitting outside with a cold beer. Beer gardens are few and far between here, but there's a couple of good spots on Linnégatan, Foxes on Gibraltargatan keeps the sun all day and Kontiki has an outside lounge area worth checking out next time the clouds part for a while...

Karen
I head to my sunny balcony or for a quickie off to Slottsskogen or to lunch up along the canal in the park near to Kungsportsplatsen.

Carlos
During the spring and summer, either out in the nature or on the coast. I'm a big fan of Amundön and Särö.

When the sun is shining I usually go jogging around the Göta Älv by Lindholmen. It's a great jog around the small docks and the view with the ocean and sun is really nice. Otherwise I like to go the many gardens around town to enjoy the good weather and have an ice-cream. If I have a free day I like to go out to the archipelagos around Saltholmen and have a picnic with some friends on one of the small islands out there.

Cristina
I live at Eriksberg and the wharves down by the water are beautiful for a walk and a coffee or drink at one of the outdoor servings. Down by Eriksbergskranen there is also a sun deck for sun bathing. It's also nice to go for a picnic at Ramberget - take the car all the way up to the lookout point with views all over Gothenburg.

I lived in Frölunda, western Gothenburg, for many years and one my favourite spots there is the outdoor serving area at the restaurant Jungman Jansson, down by the water. Take the buss to Önnereds Brygga, which is just next to the restaurant. However before we sit down, my husband and I usually go for a walk next to the water down to an area called Tippen. We follow the water for a while before we turn around and go to sit down with a glass of wine at the restaurant.
