Where to live in Gothenburg?

Linda Genborg 2010-06-13

Göteborg Daily's panelists were asked where they would like to live in Gothenburg.

Carlos
Kungsladagård would be my pick in Gothenburg. It's next to Slottsskogen and close to the city. I like that it has a mixture of apartments and houses, and from what I've heard and seen it's great for young families.

Karen
I love Örgryte where I live now. After 25 years in New York City - it is just fun not to live on the 20th floor and be able to see the flowers off my balcony. The city apartments are lovely- but they do not hold as much charm for me anymore as does a tree, a bush and a lovely trähus!

Hugh
I don't think I've been in Göteborg long enough to definitively say where I would live if I had complete freedom to choose; every time I get in my car, recently, I pass somewhere new I think could be great. At the moment, though, I'm liking Mariaplan and surrounds. Nice, quiet, plenty of shops nearby but still close to centre if you're going. Please note: I do not currently live in Mariaplan, so if anyone knows of an apartment, be sure to let me know!

Cristina
Right now, I think it is great to live at Eriksberg. I love my view and the closeness to the water with the esplanade. It's fun to watch all the boats come and go, small motorboats, large cargo ships, the Älvsnabben ferries and the large Stena Line ferries. It is also a nice place to be on a nice summer day or night - lot's of people and nice places to have a glass of wine or something to eat.

I lived at Vasa before I moved to Eriksberg, and that is also a great area. Beautiful architecture, and very central. Close to Linnégatan, Haga, the city etc.

Yining
If I could live anywhere in Gothenburg I would like to live around Sannegårds Hamnen right by Eriksberg. This new aparment area is situated very close to Lindholmen and Eriksberg. The apartments lie right by Göta Älv, so you have a great view of Gothenburg over the water. However those aparments are very expensive.....
