Lars Vilks believed to have been the target

Linda Genborg 2011-09-21

The three men who are in custody for planning the murder of controversial artist Lars Vilks, according to the newspaper Metro.

Metro claims to have taken part of classified material from the preliminary investigation. The evidence the paper lists include a pocket-knife, observations from Röda Sten and notes in a program sheet.

The three men were arrested around midnight on Saturday, September 10 and were first suspected for preparing to commit terrorist crimes. Two days after the arrest, the crime classification was changed to conspiring to murder.

The prosecutor Agneta Hilding-Qvarnström has declined to comment on the information in the metro article.

The suspicions led to the evacuation of the opening party of the Gothenburg International Art Biennial in Röda Sten on September 10. Lars Vilks himself was in Stockholm at the time.
