The church in Hjällbo will be open on Monday evening and representatives from the municipality and the police will be present. A ten-year-old girl was stabbed in the neck outside Bergsgårdsskolan earlier today.
Police officers will be visible in the area the whole night. The aim is to bring a sense of security to the area and also to receive tips about the perpetrator or information about other observations nearby the school.
The perpetrator remains at large and the motive for the attack is not known at this stage.
The girl had surgery on Monday and remains sedated. Before she was taken to hospital she managed to tell the police that she did not recognize the man and that he attacked her unprovoked, reports GP.
"The girl has been brought into surgery. Then she will remain sedated until tomorrow. I have no information that her injuries would be life-threatening," said police spokesperson Björ Blixter to GP earlier today.
Daniel Norlander, head of the police in Hjällbo, tells GP that he has high hopes the attacker will be arrested as soon as possible.
"But it is very important to call the police or come up to us and tell us if you have seen anything."
