October 15 is the day for the global struggle for democracy. People all over the world will gather for democracy and against greed and injustice. Järntorget will be the meeting place in Gothenburg.
Real Democracy Now! Göteborg is one of the organisers. The initiative-takers Therese Svensson, Ylva Gellerstedt and Emma Björshol say to GP that the meeting will be open for everyone who, under calm and peaceful circumstances, wants to discuss the notion of democracy and how it can develop. The basic idea is that democracy today is primarily run by financial gain and power concentration instead of human values and participation.
- The democratic process starts with a question. We don't provide any answers, we provide a structure for the gathering and do not decide the content, says Therese Svensson to GP.
The organisers say the big challenge is to think in new ways and share ideas of how to bring the society, the nation and the world forward.
