Real estate company Mölndalsbostäder let elite athletes skip the queue for apartments, reports Mölndals-Posten.
Apartment contracts were given to several players in Kvarnby basketball club and Jitex soccer club, as well as to at least one coach. None had to stand in the ordinary queue. Two of the apartments were demolition contracts, but according to Mölndalsbostäders' policy, the apartments still should have been posted on Boplats, where the public can apply for apartments.
The apartments were rented out to the athletes during 2007 and 2008. Mölndalsbostäders' CEO Dennis Bucht tells P4 Göteborg that the company last year introduced a stricter policy.
"It should not be possible to come and say I play soccer in Jitex or I play in Kvarnby, I need an apartment," he told P4.
