A person was cut free from a vehicle and taken by helicopter to hospital following an accident involving seven cars on Sunday afternoon, reports Göteborgs-Posten. In total, seven people were injured in the accident.
The accident took place on the national highway 40, two kilometres of east of Bollebygd, just before 14:00 on Sunday. Six ambulances and a helicopter were called to the scene.
One person was trapped in a vehicle following the accident and was cut free by rescue personnel. The person was then transported by helicopter to Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg. The hospital would not provide details of their condition, writes GP.
In total seven people were hospitalized with mild or moderate injuries. The exact cause of the accident is unknown.
"They tell me that it was slippery, but what exactly happened we do not know at this stage. But slippery conditions can certainly have contributed to it, then it's speed and distance that usually lie behind multi-vehicle collisions," said Anders Johansson, chief of staff at the rescue services in Södra Älvsborg, to GP.
At 16:30 on Sunday, traffic had returned to normal.
