June 19 - review. The second day of Metaltown brought a stronger and more aggressive metal sound to Gothenburg. 16 bands created a hard rock atmosphere from noon till midnight for an even bigger audience than the one on the previous day.
Soulfly (Red Stage 19.00-20.00) Soulfly was one of the highlights of the day. The band kept the spirits high with their heavy, violent music for a whole hour non-stop. The passionate public could listen to and perform pogo dances on old and new songs in the traditional Cavalera style. Originally the lead-singer of Sepultura, Max Cavalera became an icon of heavy metal music and now performs with Soulfly. Last year Cavalera was present at Metaltown with the Cavalera Conspiracy band. The Sepultura hit Roots bloody roots was even part of Soulfly's show.
Bullet for my valentine (Red stage 21.30-22.30) The Welsh band gathered a big enthusiastic crowd at Metaltown. Mainly teenagers, the fans showed great fascination for Bullet for my valentine and sang together with them all hits. Frontman Matt Tuck showed off a bit too much by repeatedly saying how great his band was. However, the fans really enjoyed the show and had the opportunity to get autographs before the concert, during a signing session at 6 o'clock.
In flames (Black stage 22.45-24.00) In flames was the main attraction of the day and the last band to perform at Metaltown 2010. The Swedish group gathered probably as many fans as Rammstein did the day before and offered a great end to the two day festival. The ‘inflamed' audience enjoyed every single moment of the show, making the ground at Frihamnen shake one more time. Despite the metal sound and rock band image of In flames, a "dreads-less" Anders Fridén (vocals) was caught between events and wore a white shirt, white pants and a black tie.
