Way out West - August 14. Håkan Hellström playing his debut album live from start to finish - what a concept. Känn ingen sorg för mig Göteborg (Feel no sorrow for me Gothenburg) from 2000 is a modern Swedish classic. Here it was live, in the heart of Gothenburg, on the last day of the city's biggest music festival.
Hands were in the air, and the whole crowd was dancing and singing along at the top of their lungs with every, I mean every, single song. It was a love fest, and a sing-along affair that at times drenched the sound of the band and Håkan. It was a celebration.
"I'm so proud" said Håkan Hellström.
As the tones to Dom dimmiga dagarna, the last song of the album, died out, the audience kept singing. They were singing for Håkan and the band, not wanting it to end. And it wasn't long until Håkan returned for an encore, River en vacker dröm, a song written specially for the occasion. A sea of confetti filled the air as the crowd went wild.
