Student apartments were rented out to ice-hockey players in Kållereds SK, reports Göteborgs-Posten (GP). The chairman of the sports club is the recently fired CEO of SGS Studentbostäder.
According to one of Göteborgs-Posten's sources, it concerns around ten apartments. However, the chairman of the club's ice hockey section told the newspaper he could only think of six cases, of which two are students.
The ice hockey chairman told GP it is common practice that sports clubs try to organise accommodation for players from other cities. He says the club has contacts with other real estate companies as well. With SGS, most contacts were taken in May, when many students leave their student apartments when the term ends. According to the man there was never a problem to find apartments with SGS, even for the players who do not study.
"No actually not. You ask if there are any apartments available. If you are then asked if they study, you say 'no they work'. And that wasn't a problem. I don't know their policies and rules."
The ice hockey chairman says he got a name to contact at SGS via the former CEO.
The chairman of SGS Studentbostäder, Klara Martinsson (Social Democrats), declined to comment on the new information. However, she confirmed that SGS' policies clearly state that they can only rent out to university students.
The former CEO could not be reached for a comment, writes GP.
